About This Blog

Welcome to my blog, Tales of an Anglo-American Mormon Family

Here I write about the adventures of raising our six children with my husband, Tim Bleakley.  Tim is British, and I am American.  We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - sometimes referred to as the Mormon Church.  Hence the title, Tales of an Anglo-American Mormon Family.

Over the past few years there has been, from time to time, quite a bit of media attention on the Mormon church.  There is often much wariness towards us - if not downright prejudice - and misunderstandings about what we believe and how we live our lives.  One of my purposes here is to break down those prejudices and misunderstandings by simply journaling our day-to-day life as a Mormon family.

Our faith in Jesus Christ is at the center of our lives.  It defines the kind of people we try to be, our perspective on life, and the way we try to raise our family.

I'm certainly not holding us up as a 'model' Mormon family.  Furthermore, whatever religious musings I write here must be regarded as my own opinions, not as official pronouncements on the doctrine of our church.  But I hope that this blog will provide insight into what it means to be a Mormon family in the 21st century.

I have another blog, called Philosophy for Parents.  That's where I try to write in a more professional way about issues concerning parenting in our contemporary society.  But here I write about my daily life with our children - our activities, our routine, our struggles and challenges, the books we read, and so forth.  Raising children is, I think, a bit of an art form, and it seems important to me to record how we do it, if only because it helps us take note of which of our parenting efforts have yielded positive results and which have not.

Thank you, reader, for reading what I have to say.  I hope you enjoy Tales of An Anglo-American Mormon Family.  Please feel free to leave comments on my posts if you feel so inspired.
